BAR HARBOR, Maine (WABI) – The Maine Seacoast Mission has been serving downeast coastal communities since 1905.

This year, they’ll continue to do so with their annual Christmas Open House.

We got a preview.

“It’s a great night to be in Bar Harbor.”

A home deeply rooted in its commitment to the community.

“From outer islands, to children in crisis, to families in crisis, after school programs. We give to about 3,000 this year.”

Celebrating the holiday season by giving back to those who need it most.

Located along the coast of Bar Harbor, the Colket Center is the backdrop once again for the Maine Seacoast Mission’s annual Christmas Open House.

“We now have a wreath auction, homemade wreaths made by volunteers and artists around the island, and the whole evening is devoted to raising funds for the mission and for the Christmas program.”

More than 400 area residents will fill the halls of this historic home Friday night.

But this might be the last year this holiday tradition happens here.

“It is possible that this would be our last Christmas in this house. But I don’t think our Christmas traditions will die when we leave here. We’ll certainly maintain our Christmas program and want to stay in touch with our community during the holiday.”

The Colket Center is officially on the market. For a cool $6 million, it can be yours.

Staff are currently exploring options to relocate but until then, their mission continues.

“You know, there’s more out there besides what my own family needs and what I can give to them. There are people that just can’t have what they want on Christmas morning, so this is a nice little way to stop and remember and give.”

The Christmas Open House runs from 5-30 to 7-30 Friday night at the Colket Center.

A pit stop you can make while traveling through Bar Harbor as the town is hosting a village holiday and midnight madness sale.
